Nuclear Weapons; Determent or Stimulant of War?

There are lots of things that can hurt us. There are lots of things that can kill us. However, there aren't too many things that can obliterate mankind. Unfortunately, one of the things that can do this are readily available for a lot of people around the world. What I am specifically talking about is nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons are extremely dangerous, easily accessible and incredibly destructive. We sometimes need to think,do these weapons stop wars, or fuel them?

These weapons are usually classified into two groups. They both convert matter into energy but one creates a fission type of weapon,this is usually called an atomic weapon or atomic bomb. How this type of bomb works is, it contains elements that go through fission or splitting when it comes into contact with certain other elements making the elements inside these weapons split continuously causing a chain reaction. The other type of weapon is called a thermonuclear bomb, these bombs turn matter into energy by fusing elements together similar to the process the sun uses. These weapons are both incredibly devastating and powerful. They have been used for the wrong reasons and have destroyed the lives of many and affected many more. For example,near the end of World War II the United States had used two bombs dropping on Hiroshima Japan, and Nagasaki Japan. Just these two bombs had killed over 200,000 Japanese people who were all mostly civilians. If it only took two bombs around 67 years ago to kill 200,000 how many people do you think the united states could kill with their approximate 5000 warheads?

Now it can be argued that these bombs and weapons can be used for self defense, however I don’t think that it’s right for people to have the right to destroy so many lives and possibly kill mankind. Even if the people who control these weapons don’t use them is it right for them to have these in their possession?

In my opinion, no one should be able to own such power. It really should not even exist, the power to kill mankind is scary for all the spectators but it seems to be just a game for the people who have the power to abuse. For example, the United States continually fire bombs to other countries but deceive their citizens by not even showing them the truth.The media just shows the citizens what they want to hear or it fills citizens with doubt and fear. We are not able to witness the power of these weapons first hand but it’s truly tremendous. They might as well be starting wars with these weapons however in conclusion, no one should be able to have the power to end humanity. It should not exist and should not be as easily made or accessible as they currently are. The power should be for the citizens and not the corrupt masterminds who currently control them.
